Something More was founded by Julia McCurley. After a successful career in the world of high tech recruiting, she realized those skills could be easily transferred to the exciting world of matchmaking. After all, she already had a track record of creating many successful relationships and marriages for friends and family. So in 2009 Julia decided to take her personal passion of matchmaking to the next level by becoming a Certified Matchmaker as deemed by the nationally recognized Matchmaking Institute. Julia then opened the doors of Something More to make her talents for connecting people who are looking for a lifetime of love and happiness official.
Julia has many life experiences to which her clients can relate. The former serial dater and workaholic responded to her biological clock ticking and ended up marrying a good friend. Because life can throw curveballs, it left her a single mother of two gorgeous children. Love struck twice when Julia met her Prince Charming, whom she fondly refers to as her “high-tech redneck.” Their meeting proved what Julia advises her clients daily: don’t judge a book by its cover and that first impressions can be deceiving. Blissfully, Julia and her husband are now a true “yours, mine and ours” blended family boasting six amazing children.
Julia and Something More have been featured prominently in the Austin American Statesman, Austin Monthly, The Society Diaries, The Society Diplomat.com, Brilliant magazine,Yahoo! Shine and Tyra Banks’ Typepad F. Her TV appearances include the ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX affliates, and many other media outlets. Additionally, Julia hosted a talk radio show about dating and relationships that spread her advice to singles looking for love over the airwaves.
Community involvement and philanthropy have always been important to Julia, therefore Something More is a member of the Austin Chamber of Commerce and Better Business Bureau. She has served on the board of the Texas Advocacy Project, and she chaired its Black and White Ball gala fundraiser five years in a row. Julia also sat on the Zachary Scott Theater board and is a member of the Women’s Symphony League, as well as supporting many other non-profit organizations.
Something More’s Julia McCurley is an avid tennis player, loves to read (books on dating and relationships, of course), enjoys international travels and spending time with her family.
